Autumn Romance ;)
recent drawing I did of Zholn (the monk) and Tzunedaine (the ranger).
Tzunedaine is supposed to look quite big compared to Zholn, she's 2-3 heads taller than him in-game... XD
Supposedly Tzunedaine is painting back on the Dragon Scalp Design he used to wear when they first met. Usually Zholn wears a black headwrap, but I'm not very fond of it... XP
Zholn is a little reluctant, he likes to keep his head warm, but Tzunedaine always has the final say in such matters ;P
Tzunedaine is wearing a Norn Armour, but I changed it around a bit as I saw fit for the setting. No need for all the fur in that climate.
EDIT: Critique is of course very welcome, always. I can use and constructive crit to better myself for my commissions.

I don't know too much about art, but in my opinion, the white on the ranger kills the entire picture. Everything else is great, but my eye keeps getting drawn to the white on her armor. Maybe try something more subtle?

aye, I got the same comments off incgamers. I guess there's something there, I just didn't notice it while drawing. I tried to keep true to the original norn attire with the white, but I should've just allowed myself to do whatever I wanted.
thanks.
EDIT: spent two minutes editing it and voilá! My original idea! any better?

In my opinion, much better. The white seemed to lack any shading at all, which made it feel very flat set against everything else.
Nice work.

The ranger is now camaflauged into the background!
Nice picture (I personally didn't mind the white, but it looks better this way ).
If I had more money, I'd ask for commisions in your other thread. >.<
I like my main characters enough to get multiple drawings of them.

Why is it so dark? I can't tell the bodies from the background.

that's a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think? :P
I wanted the light to be dark and mellow, I like it that way.

I'm being serious, the lighting makes it very hard to distinguish the bodies from the background and considering you've losed a sunlit scene shouldn't they be more visible?
This picture could also use a real background, screenshot and premade backgrounds look lazy and drain the picture of it's beauty. But this could be called a good start.

I'm trying really hard to see what you mean, but to me the bodies are easily distinguishable from the background, with an exception of the colours, but that was entirely on purpose. The lighting I'm happy with, as I said before.

well, apparently (90% of the feedback so far) this drawing is very, very, very poor. So why should I spend any time on making the background look any better? Wrapping a pig in sequins never helped much.

You're over-exaggerating. These people are just giving honest opinions and even then they're sweetening them so you don't get offended. Most illustration forums would be much harsher.

No, I'm not. I'm including feedback I've got from other sources as well. I frequent a few illustration forums, and they're actually kinder. But I don't mind you being brutally honest, feedback is best when it's not tainted by someone's sympathies.
So no worries, I'm not going to get offended, I rarily do.

I personally like the screen shot backgrounds. Unless your photoshopping (like EmJay), imo, screen shots are the best background.
But this all is matter of opinion.

What aspects were criticised in other forums? Because to me, although the colouring and lighting could use perhaps a little work (hypocritical, I know), the lineart looks fine. Surely it's salvageable?
